DetailsDrinking chocolate from the Cross Atlantic Chocolate Collective: cacao growers who make their own.
The Cross Atlantic Chocolate Collective is a movement of cacao growers in Africa and the Caribbean who make their own chocolate. Chocolate Rebellion is its US arm, based in New York City.
For as long as cocoa has been grown as a commercial crop, there has been a divide between those who grow the cocoa and those who make the chocolate.
We’re rewriting that narrative, and decolonizing the market bean by bean.

DetailsHow the collective works
The collective’s model lets members take cacao all the way to chocolate, sharing information, skills and support along the way.
It starts with the growers and the cacao fruit.
The beans are processed where they’re grown, instead of leaving as a raw material.
Members make the chocolate themselves, right through to tempering.
Members sell their own chocolate, so more of the value stays in the community.
Made by the same hands that planted the seeds and harvested the beans.
